Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

West Palm Beach is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and West Palm Beach follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I would refer this mechanic to anyone! After taking my car to two different mechanics and still not getting a clear answer, I brought my car over to Ray at Top Shelf Auto He was able to quickly diagnose the exact problem and fix it in a reasonable amount of time. The professionalism, honesty, and quality of work were outstanding. If I could give this business more than 5 stars, I absolutely would — definitely a 5+ experience! Thank you again Ray, for everything you’ve done. Highly recommended!

had a great experience with Ray. He was very kind and honest throughout the entire process. I originally went to a dealership and was quoted for work I wasn’t completely sure about, so I wanted a second opinion — and I’m so glad I did. He took the time to double-check everything and made sure I only fixed what was actually needed, which I really appreciated. He was very transparent about pricing, kept me updated, and finished everything the same day as promised. It’s hard to find someone you can trust, but I definitely felt that here. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and honest service.
